Curriculum Vitae and Sample Publications
Norton Siano Ribeiro de Freitas received a Ph.D. in Sciences from the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil in 1993 with training in Isotopic Techniques and Analytical Methods at the Radiocarbon Laboratory of the Center of Nuclear Energy in Agriculture and the Environment (CENA-USP). In 2011 he joined the Gund Institute for Environment to pursue interdisciplinary work in Ecological Economics and Isotope Geochemistry at The University of Vermont. In 2015 he received a Fulbright Scholarship Award to support his research focused on modelling terrestrial ecosystem structure and function with Texas A&M University Agricultural Life Sciences Climate Economics Group. With a combined science and economics background, Norton serves as Environmental Economist for the São Paulo Environment Authority since 2007. His work is motivated by the need to better understand natural processes involved in forest-air carbon exchange, airborne gas pollutants and aerosol measurements for ecological monitoring. As a Fulbright Alumni Scholar Norton collaborates with colleagues from the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Texas A&M University (TAMU) to research the environmental effects of concentrations of gases and aerosols on plant health, biodiversity and on vegetation distribution over wide scales spanning the diverse Atlantic Rainforest and the Chihuahuan Desert ecosystems.

Expanded descriptions of Norton's research can be found at https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8385-4578, and in an article posted at the Fulbright Scholar Blog by the State Department´s Educational and Cultural Bureau http://www.cies.org/article/visiting-scholar-fosters-connections-between-brazil-and-texas
